With much of our journey in this edition set to unfold on the open road, you’re gonna hear songs about ‘motor vehicles’ – a subject with which The Blues has a long association.

(Blues Quiz: Which motor vehicle was produced by the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan between 1932 and 1938? Your bonus clue is: Robert Johnson.  Still not sure? Check out this 2nd edition of  Nothin’ But The Blues to hear the answer.)

On occasion, the Blues has been contemptuously described as, ‘The Devil’s Music’. That just meant that it was ‘secular’ music – and only referred to as ‘The Devil’s Music’ by folk who preferred only to sing Gospel songs at the Sunday church meeting. Thus began the strained relationship between the Blues and belief. In this edition, we’ll hear how the Blues can sometimes view the connection between mankind and it’s religions.

And because I want to make your stay at Trés Le Parque as ‘familiar’ as possible, you’ll also discover just how common the Blues really is in what we like to call, ‘the Mainstream’ – and where it may be taking us.

Further updates on Trés Le Parque life will be added as opportunity permits but in the meantime, for those of you with even the vaguest interest in our ongoing mission to promote the Blues – in a manner which, hope, is both entertaining and elucidating – we offer the second in our series of shows as featured on the Australian internet radio station, The Gist:  thegist.net.au

The second instalment along with it’s playlist are included above.

As always, thanks for listening,

Gideon Rhyme – Cultural Detective

The show’s second episode premiered on the gist.net.au at midday (CST) on Saturday the 4th March 2017, receiving an ‘encore’ airing at 7pm (CST) on Wednesday 8th March 2017.
